Well participants, 4 more days and, four of you will know that you are travelling to either Costa Rica or the Caribbean!!
For your information, many of the respondents to our past Post-Race surveys asked for harder clues to the challenge locations. Well, we have delivered! The clues to the locations of the challenges range from the complex to quite simple. This part of the Race will make you think on your feet and force you to making decisions that will plan your strategy for the afternoon. Remember, you can always ask someone on the street for assistance!!
Communication between you and your teammate will be very important throughout the afternoon. How your team handles the pressure in finding the locations and then performing the challenges will dictate your placing at the end of the day.
You still have 4 days to fundraise! Please remember the many Island patients who are depending on your support. We are drawing the last incentive prizes this Thursday. Please have your money in Wednesday by 4pm to qualify.
July 25th
The countdown is on!! There are only 7 days left until the 5th Annual Race About Charlottetown!
Over $2000 has already been raised through online donations, but there is only 1 week left to fundraise and put your team in the running for a Caribbean Cruise if you raise the most pledges! You can pick up pledge sheets from The Kidney Foundation office at 565 North River Road or call 892-9009 to make other arrangements. Don't forget that in order to be eligible for the Cruise, all pledges must be passed in by noon to the Kidney Foundation office on August 2nd . If you pass in $400 or more by Wednesday at 4pm, you'll have a chance to win one of 6 Race About Charlottetown Hoodies in next Thursday's draw!
This year, each individual challenge has a prize valued at an average of $500, so there are tons of chances to win throughout the Race!

Paul Poole of Charlottetown was diagnosed with kidney disease at age 27. At first, Paul was able to maintain his health through a very strict diet but experienced extreme exhaustion-having to go home from work at lunch to rest and feeling wiped out by the end of the day. After a little over a year, Paul faced peritoneal dialysis-a method of dialysis performed at home by the patient 3 times per day-as his health declined.
While Paul was receiving training on how to perform his dialysis in Halifax, he received a call that there was a kidney waiting for him.
Though Paul immediately felt better after his transplant, he is still reminded of his kidney disease by the 9 different medications he takes daily (including anti-rejection and blood-pressure medications).
Because of the advancements in research and medications, Paul was able to return to the active lifestyle that he lived previous to his diagnosis. Paul now works full-time, has started his own business, spends his free time enjoying the outdoors with his wife, and, in the last 3 summers, has put over 60 000 kms on his Harley.
Your fantastic fundraising efforts help the Kidney Foundation of Canada help people like Paul everyday. Thank you for all of your hard work and keep it up!!
