Corporate Rules and Regulations
Entry - Upon registration, teams must specify whether they are entering the Corporate division or the Open division. (Each division has different prizes. Please see “Prizes” for information about the award for the corporate division). Participants much be at least nineteen years of age or older at the time of the event in order to participate and employees of the corporation which they are representing. Registration is limited to 100 teams of 2. A $200 registration fee is required and can be raised through pledges. Registration will not be complete until pledges are returned. In order to qualify for your Corporate prize, teams must submit their pledge sheets and all monies by noon (12:00pm) on August 2nd, 2008, no exceptions, in order to qualify for a chance to win a Cruise from the Dominican Republic courtesy of Signature Vacations and Sears Travel. All other monies must be received before the race on August 2nd, 2008.
Beginning - The Race will begin in the early afternoon. The exact time and location will be announced closer to the Race. Please arrive prior to the start time to turn in any outstanding pledge sheets and to receive your t-shirt and all other materials you need. At this location, participants will be required to sign a waiver. Passports will be issued at the start of the Race.
Race Passports - All teams will be given identical Race Passports. Once you retrieve your Passport you can begin the Race! You will be told what task you must complete prior to receiving a mark of completion on your Passport for each challenge. Race Passports MUST be turned in along with any trivia sheets and items that had to be collected throughout the Race before your time will stop at the end of the Race.
Clues - Clues are meant to be difficult so that participants challenge their mind as well as their physical abilities. There will be twelve challenges; teams must complete ten of these challenges as well as tasks that must be completed throughout the race.
Events - All volunteers will be wearing Race shirts. When you enter a challenge area you must identify the person looking after the line of entrants and receive a number. This number will identify your place in the line-up. Please treat all volunteers and props with respect; violation of this rule will result in disqualification.
Transportation - Teams will travel the Race on foot. NO other method of transportation is allowed unless it is a challenge prop. However, as part of the Race you will be required to take at least one ride on the City Transit System. Roller blades, cars, skateboards, bicycles etc. are strictly prohibited. “Spies” will be placed around the city to enforce these rules. Teams using prohibited modes of transportation will be disqualified.
Race Shirts - Participants must wear the official Race About Charlottetown T-shirt during the entire event. Teams who fail to do so will be disqualified.
Prizes - Although Corporate teams are not eligible for the Grand Prize, there is still a chance to win many great prizes. Upon completion of the afternoon challenges, the winning team in the Corporate division will be awarded with a prize package for 20 people. Second and third place prize packages will also be available within the Corporate Division. Please note that participants from the Corporate division will also be eligible for the incentive prizes (drawn weekly in July), the prizes that are awarded for the winners of each individual challenge, as well as the 7-day Signature Vacations Caribbean Cruise from the Dominican Republic courtesy of Signature Vacations and Sears Travel for the highest amount of money raised in terms of pledges. On the day of the event, no team can win more than one prize, except the team that wins the fundraising prize package; they are eligible to win another prize. If one team wins more than one challenge, they will be allowed to choose which prize they would prefer. The prize declined will be awarded to the next top-ranking team.
Additional Rules
Safety - Participants must adhere to all Federal, Provincial and Municipal laws during the Race. This includes traffic laws regarding pedestrians. Please do not engage in any behavior that disregards your safety or the safety of others, or impedes the progress of other teams. Teams that violate this rule will be subject to disqualification.
Help - Teams are permitted to ask others for help, including your resource team, race participants, bystanders or friends. If a team is in need of urgent assistance, please contact event staff. An emergency number will be provided on the day of the race.
Finish Line Cut off Point - Volunteers will no longer be working at challenges after 6:15pm. The Race must be finished by this time.
Results - Teams will be ranked according to the time at which they crossed the finish line and the completion of all required challenges. Teams who do not cross the finish line before it is closed will be ranked according to how many challenges they have completed. The top corporate team will be awarded the prize package for 20 people. The second and third place corporate teams will be eligible for prizes also. We will be checking in with various “spies” throughout the race. Time penalties will be assessed for any trivia questions asked during the Race which were answered incorrectly.
Challenge Tie Breaker - For all individual challenges there will be prizes. If there is a tie at a challenge, the team that crosses the finish line first, between the tied teams, will be declared the winner.
Tie Breaker at the Finish Line - In the event of a tie between teams at the finish line, the team that had raised the most money (between the tied teams) prior to the Race will be declared the winner.

Waiver - All participants are required to sign a waiver and release form at registration.
Legal Stuff - These rules are subject to change without notice. Teams are responsible for knowing the rules. Race About Charlottetown Event Volunteers will make all decisions interpreting or applying the rules. All decisions or interpretations are final. There is no right to appeal or review.
