Is this race designed for Brad Richards or Bud the Spud??

The race will challenge participants both mentally and physically; challenges are designed to test a variety of skills. There will be a task that must be completed between challenges. This is not just a running race! Some teams will choose to run between each checkpoint, while others will take their time to determine where the checkpoints are and map out the best route. A high level of fitness is not guaranteed to give you an advantage. Using the Charlottetown Transit System at least once will be a requirement for the Race.

Is the Race ‘weather permitting?’

The Race will go rain or shine. Check the weather forecast the morning of the event and dress appropriately. Please bring a light backpack in case you are required to pick up items along the way. You will also be given a small amount of money for a challenge along with a transit pass.

What prizes are available?

The team that raises the most funds through pledges will win a one week Caribbean cruise for two with air from Halifax and sailing out of the Dominican Republic on the Thomson Destiny courtesy of Signature Vacations and Sears Travel.

The grand prize for the Open Division of the Race is a 12-day vacation to exciting Costa Rica courtesy of Sears Travel and TREK Holidays. Other great prizes will be awarded for all of the 12 individual challenges during the afternoon portion of the Race.

The grand prize for the Corporate Division of the Race is a fabulous prize package for up to 20 people. There will also be 2nd and 3rd place prize packages awarded for our Corporate Teams. Other great prizes will be awarded for all of the 12 individual challenges during the afternoon portion of the Race.

Are the Vacations all-inclusive?

Yes! The vacations prizes are all-inclusive. You also have the option of staying at your vacation destination longer—at your own expense—if you so desire.

How many teams will there be?

A maximum of 100 teams will be accepted.

What age must I be to participate?

You must be nineteen years or older on the day of the event in order to participate. There will be a cash bar available at the BBQ and Post-Challenge Celebrations.

How well do I need to know the city?

Knowing the city will help, but it is not essential. It will be necessary to have a resource contact with Internet access for assistance during the Race.

What prevents teams from cheating?

There will be “Spies” placed around the city. Any team caught cheating will be immediately disqualified. The top ten teams to finish will be audited before results are announced; the audit will involve a number of check features to ensure fairness.

If I sign up with a partner but one or both of us can’t participate, what happens?

If you, your partner, or both of you can no longer participate, you can transfer your registration to someone else. Just email us the new participant’s information as soon as possible. There are no refunds.

To whom should people make cheques payable to?

Please make cheques payable to The Kidney Foundation – PEI Branch

Are tax receipts available?

Yes. Tax receipts are available for any amount over $10.

What and when are the post race activities?

Once the afternoon challenges are complete there will be a BBQ held for all participants and volunteers. This portion of the Race is open to the public. The top six qualifying teams will compete for the grand prize in these challenges. Individual prizes for the challenges will also be awarded at this time. At least one team member must be present in order to claim your prize. Upon completion of the final challenges the “after party” begins at Ise’s.
